Hey one and all. It’s been such a long time since I posted something. Last month was an eventful month for me. First my classes were cancelled for a week in view of the unfortunate condition in Mumbai due to “Swine Flu”. It came as a bolt from the blue as I could again visit my home sweet home. I came back after a week & guess what, again had to go back to my home town for a parallel motive (malaria) but this time I was a victim to the virus. To quote one of my dear friend “Why all the mosquitoes of Kharghar are attracted to you?” I had to miss all my final projects & presentations which further added to my dismal condition in the 4th term which is going to be reflected in my mark sheet.
After coming back to Kharghar, I got the Dean’s award for featuring on the topper’s list which was probably a god given incentive to prepare well for the exams but then I have a different philosophy which is tried & tested innumerable times. Whenever I toil hard before the exams I never get what I deserve & when I just overlook the syllabus I get even more than what I can think of. Anyhow, now I am busy writing my end term papers.
Well, just love to say this time & again, I am again leaving for my home on 14th Oct on the eve of Diwali though I would dearly miss my father this time as he is supposed to be in Australia during that time for some training. Nevertheless I am still very much keyed up to be there during Diwali. After staying in a hostel for a more than a year, now I do realize the importance of staying with your own family & sharing every minute particular of your life.
Hey, I almost forgot the thing that I intended to write before starting this post. One more weird incident adding to the list of events of my action-packed month. Finance students of my college bunked their examination today as last year’s question paper was repeated. Oh God! Give me a break guys. You bunked the exam because you felt those questions did not match your intellect level. I mean, as if all you guys would score 100% in that paper. In that case you should have appeared & justified your points by getting that. Guys. Don’t you realize only a handful of guys wanted that for whatever reasons but you spoiled a day of yours & all your efforts that you put in the previous day went in vain? You need to prepare for the paper all over again. I sincerely appreciate the 7 or 8 students who wrote the exam. Guys, hats off to you. At least you are the master of your own brain. Thank god, we don’t have those intellectual, sincere, talented motivators in Marketing. One more reason to roar “Marketing Batch Rocks”.
Hey I should not to get into all these things & concentrate on my SCM paper. I will be back soon. Till then you guys take care & have fun.

Mr. Green TZ

Posted by Lagnajit Pradhan on 1:59 AM

I wanted to post this one long ago. But chaotic days in college barred me from writing & posting this one. Well, ITM Business School, Navi Mumbai has always been celebrated for its marketing trade. It is mostly because of the renowned marketing faculties that it has. One of the latest additions to that eminent list is “Mr. Green TZ”. I am still to know his name & I would like to call him as “Mr. Green TZ” because the very first time I saw him in the class, he was in a dark green round neck American teen ager kind of t shirt stretching almost up to his knees. He had a bracelet surrounding his LEFT wrist. I wonder how many chewing gums he had but he kept on chewing them throughout the class. When he entered the class the first thing that he did was to keep his mobile phone & a pack of MARLBORO cigarette on the table much to the attention of the smoking community of the class. Had I seen him somewhere else, I would have taken as a “wanna be” who says “I love my India, But I Love America even more.” I don’t know why he gave me a united appearance of Carlito & John Cena (WWE). But later on after getting to know his achievements, I was just so taken aback. Imagine a person, having this kind of an appearance, talking in the most casual manner possible, has been a BRAND MANAGER in companies like Hindustan Unilever & AC Nielson. He is an MBA from K.J. Somaiya institute of management, Mumbai & also has some parallel degree from Harvard Institute. You know when exactly I came to know that he is an MBA. It was when he put in the picture a word not once but twice. He finally said the favorite word of all our faculties: “VALUE”. When he said something else apart from studies he was a fun to watch & when he explained the basic marketing concepts, he talked only sense. That was a class of a lifetime, I would say. He came as a breather also bearing in mind the person whom he replaced (ha ha). Well this is not my final verdict though. These industry top guns have a knack of making an electrifying impression first time. I will have to analyze him once more to give my ultimate decree. Till that you guys enjoy some of his statements of that day.
• Tum log ROZ daaru nahin peete ???
• Tum main se kaun kaun DESI pita hai ???
• You all will land up in a SHITY organization.
• You must ask questions to your PROFS. (He actually meant Professors)
• Main koi GYAN nahin de raha.
• There is no PILOT, SILOT or PLANE study.
• Desi pilo for some days to buy a book of Porter.
• Fuc*** shit a** (I don’t remember which context did he use this one in, but he did it twice or thrice.)
• Tum logon ne daaru nahin piya, padhai nahin kiya, ladki nahin patai KYA KIYA HAI TUMNE AAJ TAK.

The ULTIMATE 1 - Ye tumhare KOTLER wotler jitne budhhe hain na saare mere TEACHERS reh chuke hain.

Take care Guys. I would be back soon.

FYEO (For Your Eyes Only)

Posted by Lagnajit Pradhan on 1:54 AM
Hey all.

I was just flipping through the pages of “MINT” on 6th August when I came across this article. Thanks to my finance faculty I had to run here & there madly in the college just to collect a newspaper. Finally I got it from a guy studying operations. I wonder what the finance guys are up to. ; ). Obviously I did not read the business article that I was supposed to in the class but this article captured my attention. The title was “Here’s a pop quiz: What does KUTGW mean?” by Stephanie Raposo. The article mainly focuses on some of the code words & short words that we generally use as the shorthand texts. There is no point in summarizing the whole article. So I am just giving some of the shorthand terms with their meanings which I found interesting. Have a look guys. This is damn appealing.

IWSN I Want Sex Now
UG2BK You Got To Be Kidding
PAW Parents Are Watching
99 Parents Are No Longer Watching
BIL Boss Is Listening
GNOC Get Naked On Camera
LMIRL Let’s Meet In Real Life

This is a very interesting list. So if you get some time do CIL (Check It Later) the article once. I just want to say IAL (I Am Tired). So HAND (Have A Nice Day) & give me a ^5 (High Five).

Love Aaj Kal

Posted by Lagnajit Pradhan on 4:00 AM

Well I am yet to watch the movie but my peers have already started eulogizing. This makes me write this one & hopefully I would be able to watch it this week. You see one more reason to scream loudly “MBA SUCKS”. Well it’s a great combo actually as I have been a great fan of Imtiaz Ali since his “Socha Na Tha” days. Apart from his skills as a director in romantic movies I like another fact also that he is an alumnus of my college. Saif has always been one of my favorites & Deepika being the daughter of a sportsperson is appreciated by me. So let’s see if I can take some time out & watch the movie.
Talking about my love aaj kal, I am going to put in plain words about the first real affair that I had & the current one ; ).

Love Kal – I guess I was in class 9th then. Till 8th I had studied in different co-ed schools. It was a thing that I had never really become conscious of. I mean why would have I? But suddenly landing up in a boys’ only school was a completely different experience all together. All of a sudden I started realizing the importance of having girls in a class. I mean girls are so sweet when they are your friends. They keep you updated about the happenings in the class. They put in writing lecture notes all 365 days & all you have to do is to give her a chocolate & she would give her complete notes. I remember a girl in my school who used to photocopy the notes herself & give that to me. Oh I miss those friends of mine; not because I used to exploit them ( ; ) ) but they were real sweethearts. Ok coming back to the topic, when I was spending a chunk of my time with boys, the two hours tuition class in the evenings was a breather. There were 4 girls I suppose & believe me all were pure, delicate damsels. Obviously their curves were more interesting than the boring geometrical curves that we used to learn in that tuition. Well there was this girl who kind of liked me for some silly reasons. I still wonder how she could like me. But as it is very rightly said pretty girls do not have brains, she was no different either. Anyways I got to know about all this but just like a “shaant, sushil, innocent” boy I did not pay any attention to it though I had started noticing her. Then one day all of a sudden she asked for my book & within a few minutes gave it back. I was not in a frame of mind then to flip through the pages. So I took it back & came back home. I did that at night & to my utter delight she had given me a long (really long) love letter in it. Oh man!!! I was left flabbergasted. I read that letter six to seven times that night. She was coming with her father & I was coming on bike (a CD-100 SS of my Uncle) before that. That day I collected the courage from nowhere & asked her father not to come & pick her up after the classes. I said I could do that as I was also going in that direction. He was not very sure but ultimately had to nod his head because even his daughter wanted the same. Aah!!! It was a dream coming true for me. I mean giving a lift to a girl those days was nothing less than an achievement. We started sitting together in the tuition. We went to nearby places holding hands in hands. We talked for hours through the voice call facility of yahoo messenger (neither of us had a cell phone then). That was LIFE for me. I will have to cut it short now as I can just go on & on writing about this. To give you the latest update I am still in contact with her. We are no longer into that relationship but we are still good friends. She is also doing her MBA. Who knows, with a bit of luck our paths would cross someday again.
Love Aaj – I have already written so much about her. So all you guys. Better give your eyes a break & wait for my new post.
Have a good life. Take very good care & remember one thing
TRY TO GROW IN LOVE RATHER THAN WAITING FOR THE SAME LOVE TO GROW IN SOMEONE ELSE’S HEART.

9 - 1

Posted by Lagnajit Pradhan on 2:38 AM

That’s the score line I ended the day with. It was a series of tournaments which was totally dominated by my team where we won 9 tournaments of 5 matches each & my opponent team could do that only once.

FLASHBACK – The series was at par with both the team winning 4 tournaments each, but their team was definitely stronger on paper. The 4 tournaments that they had won were with pure class & supremacy. The 4 that we managed to do were not influential at all. We just managed to do that.

D – DAY – It was a pretty boring day as I got up in the afternoon not attending any of my lectures. So I was pretty fresh to start with. I had a delicious WADA PAO as my breakfast & lunch & warmed up for the tough series ahead.

LAUNCH - When I was playing for the state in the 2004-05 season, I had one problem which is still bothering me. For the first 20 odd deliveries of my innings I am exposed to throw my wicket away. Even my coaches tried a lot those days but it was out of their control also. I still remember how many extra jugging rounds I had to do because of this. I had that in mind. But you know what I again got out for a golden duck in the first match. Other players could not do much & we lost the first match.

THE TURN AROUND – The very second match we fought back & we fought back hard. We won it convincingly & went on to win the next two matches also to win the tournament 3-1.

MY SWEARING IN – It was the fifth match of the series of tournaments where they scored the highest score ever. All were jubilant & already in a mood of celebrations. I took charge & went to bat first. I chased down the herculean score single handedly & rest of my team had to applaud sitting in the pavilion only.

TEAM MATES – Sanjay & Naveen also had a great series of tournaments. The main thing was no one really outshined the other. It was a collective team effort that made us the winners.

FINAL SCORE –

1st Tournament – 3 – 1
2nd Tournament – 3 – 0
3rd Tournament – 3 – 1
4th Tournament – 3 – 1
5th Tournament – 3 – 0
6th Tournament – 3 – 0
7th Tournament – 3 – 1
8th Tournament – 3 – 1
9th Tournament – 2 – 3
10th Tournament – 3 – 0

Total Matches - 37
Matches Won - 29
Matches Lost - 08
Winning Percentage - 78.37

M So HAPPY!!! : )

Posted by Lagnajit Pradhan on 11:21 PM
A big Hello to one and all. It’s been quite some time now since I posted my last one. To be honest hardly ever I had something to write about. When finally I got something I did not have the occasion. When I got both then I was not in the frame of mind. : (. I missed my blog these days I must say. I am really happy to be back to my blog. Actually I have been quite happy these days. Probably the following things contributed to my pleasure.
Well let me first pass on good wishes to my dear friends; Anirban & Subu for making it to the Delhi round of IIPM annual quiz. All you guys wish them best luck for the title fight & I know they would make us proud. But one request to them!!! Please don’t be too animated to meet Shahrukh Khan aka King of Bollywood. I mean he is a great human being & a brilliant actor. Rarely do people pull off what he has achieved. Still I don’t like that person for some reasons which even I don’t know. Probably because my girlfriend likes him a lot. ; ).
It was my birthday this Monday. The day was great fun. The pre birthday hukka (pardon the spelling please) party at Nerul was something which was not planned but was a delight. The birthday bumps at midnight was the worst beating ever that I have suffered. I had not got that kind of a pounding in any of my previous birthdays. Monday College was also great. Though I don’t really consider birthday as a special day but this time I felt otherwise. Wish I had that every day. : ).
It’s ENGLAND once more. Though I am not a hardcore devotee of English cricket team but when it comes to Ashes, it’s only one team. Being the last Ashes series of Freddie ‘the God’ Flintoff, this year’s Ashes is something special. The thrashing of Australia in the hands of my team was a treat to watch. All the best England. Beat the hell out of the Aussies.
My 3rd term results got declared. Thankfully I am back again to the 3 pointers league. It gave me more satisfaction than the 1st term where I had got even more. This is because of the fact that I wrote my exams in very high fever. Even my doctor asked me not to write exams that time. But I thought otherwise & God gave me what I ought to have for my determination & hard work. (Don’t laugh. I am using these two words for the first & the last time. : )).
This is all that I want to write at this moment. I would be back very soon. Let me sign off by writing some of the IMMORTAL words of my faculties.
1. As we are management students, we won’t call it a diary. We would call it a ‘CONSUMER JOURNAL’.
2. I believe in working by deadlines.
3. There is a ‘’ CATCH’ which you have to figure out.
4. I am an industry person re baba.
5. There is nothing persoooonal.
6. Srijan Chandrayaaaaaan. (Extremely sorry Srijan)
7. These things are completely unacceptable in a business school.
8. Let me comb my hairs then. (Ha ha ha).

Here It Is!!!

Hmm... I guess this summer internship of mine is turning out to be a blog mania kind of thing as I am writing something or the other every day. A very special request of one of my very special friends actually makes me write this one. Well I really don’t remember the day when I met her. I just know that I was supposed to meet her & so I did. She had a very syrupy look & when the first time I looked at her she had a weird smile on her face. To be frank that eerie smile of her actually forced me to give her a second look & what I saw the second time round, was completely celestial. A fairy straight from the heaven was sitting beside me. I was so thunderstruck that I could not collect the nerve to talk to her or to at least say a “hi”. We shared the same room for just 15 minutes or so but the night that followed the day helped me to be with her for more than 15 hours. All that I dreamt about her were her appealing face, engaging smile & unusual laugh. I woke up the next day & her face was still spanking new on my mind. That feeling was completely novel for me. All those who know me before that day can easily understand me & the state that I was going through those days. I saw her every day. The glimpse of her was so attractive that I did not want to ruin that. Finally I got a chance to talk to her. We conversed for 10 minutes & trust me I thought I had met my dream girl. The way she talked, the way she argued, the way she nodded her head in disbelief, the way she smiled after getting to know her silly mistake, everything had incredible style. I started noticing the smallest things that she used to do every day. I knew she was getting over me but then could never really stop. I hid my feelings from everybody else as I did not want to make her uncomfortable in the class but never realized that I was actually making my life a hell in the process. Then came the day on which I came to know that she was committed. The very first girl that I ever liked in my life was in love with someone else. Almighty can be truly cruel. There was no change in my attitude though & I still loved her the same way & with the same character. I just realized that I could never get her. Some Karan Johar movie dialogues helped me a lot I must say to keep my spirit high & not to get bothered. Our relationship still remains the same. We are not friends, neither are we strangers. Neither am I moving forward, nor do I have any hope of getting backward. I am completely trapped at one place which I don’t know what to refer as; a dead end, a new beginning or a midst. Well one thing I know for sure that I love her & this thing is never going to change all my life. I wish her best luck for all her future endeavors & hope she gets everything that she wants to.

Hmm….I had not posted something for quite a few days now. So I am satisfying my thirst by posting another one. For those who are wondering where am I getting so much of time from to write blogs when everyone else is busy with their summer projects, let me tell you I believe in effective work which is only achieved when one is in the right kind of mood to work. I am not in one now, so don’t want to waste my time. Well this is the marriage season here in Bhubaneswar. Every day I find two or three processions marching towards the respective bride’s places. To add on to that some of my friends are getting married this summer. I don’t know whether they had a trip to some mental hospital or they took the matrimonial sites too seriously that entitled them to take such a decision at this age. Anyway I wish all of them all the very best for their new venture (I would like to call it that way). At least I am getting a lot of gifts, treats& some last candle light dinners with them. Don’t worry I am not having candle lights with boys because all my friends who are getting married are girls. Boys are as usual busy dumping the old ones, boozing out & chasing the new chicks in town. Thank god I have something more interesting to do with NALCO. To be honest, I am really bugged looking at all these. I guess this bf n gf thing is over hyped. It’s anytime better to be single & enjoy life. Anyways I thought to share my first experience of a serious crush. It happened when I was in standard iii. Imagine a boy like me who never has required 75 % attendance in lectures, never bunked the classes just to get a glimpse of her every day. She was so loving, so caring, knowledgeable & haan more than just pretty of course. She was a goddess I must say. I remember one incident when I stole a picture of taj mahal from my friend’s bag as she liked it very much & I wanted to gift it to her. God, those days were definitely the most rocking ones of my life. She was my Hindi teacher& trust me I got the highest marks in every hindi test that year. Motivations are always for the good, you see. Anyway I am signing out now. Let’s do some project work also. I would invite you all to my marriage. So don’t worry & have fun. Byeeeee.

WHY ???

Posted by Lagnajit Pradhan on 8:43 PM
I fail to understand
1. Why people suddenly develop into aliens just to show some fake attitude?
2. Why people keep on emphasizing on their words even if they know that those are absolute garbage?
3. Why people forget to show some modesty when they are given importance?
4. Why people always say that they care for others when they know it very well that they do otherwise?
5. Why people (like me) keep on talking to their friends even if they know that they are being avoided?
6. Why people always stare at their wrist watches even if they want to stay longer?
7. Why people keep on saying that they are followers of rock music even if they tap their feet to the hindi masala songs?
8. Why people keep on watching IPL matches even if they understand that too much of cricket is not solving the purpose at all?
9. Why people keep on complaining about politics in the country but do not bother to vote for the right candidate?
10. Why JEET KEEPS ON WRITING SUCH HOPELESS BLOGS EVERY SINGLE TIME??? Ha Ha Ha….

ORINARY & XTRAORDINARY

Posted by Lagnajit Pradhan on 8:42 PM
Finally I am back at my home sweet home for a period of two months, this time not for fun though, for some serious work. One thing is for sure it is not going to be the same as the NGO project. I would have to work a bit for a change. Well the company that I am working with is NALCO, National Aluminum Company limited. To be honest I have no idea about how a public sector unit carries out its marketing activities. What kind of marketing activities that it does. I am fortunate to work for a Navratna company but still unaware of the profile that I am going to work on. I visited NALCO’s corporate office today, met with some officials as well as my project guide. The first thing that struck me was the punch line of NALCO. It says “Ordinary people, Extra ordinary attitude.” I mean thank god PSUs also give a thought while deciding on the punch lines as I believe they are quite important because they speak for the organization in the simplest way. Hmm it seems I will be having fun working with the company in the export department. Let’s see & hope for the best.
